Newborn Photography - A Yarraville Family

Newborn photography can be a bit tricky, specially the first few weeks of life of your baby as there are no set routines yet. I love lifestyle newborn photography sessions at home because they allow me to record the changes in your home as your family goes from two to three members. Here is a little guide for you to know what to expect and a little session of a family in Yarraville (Melbourne).

  • Newborn lifestyle photography is very different from posed newborn photography:

Posed newborn photography (most of the times with baby sleeping and placed in a bucket or a wooden bowl), needs to be done within the first week of the baby been born, as it will get harder to put them to sleep as they get older, and the average session lasts around 4 hours. Lifestyle photography on the other hand, is a lot more relaxed, it can be done once baby is a few weeks old and the average session is around one hour.

  • Lifestyle newborn photography is more relaxed:

Through our session I will guide you where to stand and what to do, but overall the lifestyle newborn photography session is a lot more relaxed if it’s at home.

  • Prepare for your session but don’t stress out:

It would be best if your bub has been fed and it’s wearing a footless onesie. But number one is: don’t stress. If things are not going to plan then we can always change once I am there. Your house doesn’t need to be spotless.

  • Let’s keep things flexible:

If things are not going to plan, then we can always wait and settle your bub with food or patting. If something is not working, then we will change things around and we will move from one side of the house to the other if the light is appropriate.

I hope you will find these tips practical and useful. Come and have a look at this little session to give you an idea of what your session could look like.
