Caulfield Park | Family photography session

Caulfield Park is a great backdrop for your family photography session. This park has a great variety of tree species that provide shade on hot summer days and also change to incredible colours in Autumn.

Caulfield Park has to be one of my favourite locations to do family portraits. The little lake is a great distraction for the kids and they always enjoy looking at the birds and ducks. While we are not allowed to feed them, there are a few platforms and bridges that make it really fun to see them up close.

The pros and cons of having Caulfield Park as the location for your outdoor family photoshoot.

Pros of having your photoshoot at Caulfield Park:

  1. Expansive Space: Caulfield Park offers a large area with six sporting fields, a lake, and various recreational facilities.

  2. Scenic Beauty: The park features a pond, ducks, water features, and bridges, creating a picturesque and calming environment.

  3. Sunset Views: Walking around the park during sunset is highly recommended for capturing beautiful photos. This is not always possible with young kids.

  4. Dog-Friendly: The park is a haven for dog owners, with plenty of dogs and open spaces for them to walk.

  5. Picnic Areas: There are numerous spots with tables for picnics, providing a great setting for family outdoor gatherings.

  6. Playgrounds: Multiple playgrounds of varying quality and age ranges cater to kids, along with a sensory play area for those who prefer it.

  7. Natural Beauty: The park is filled with beautiful trees and offers a relaxing ambiance for enjoying time outdoors.

  8. Accessibility: Restrooms are accessible and generally clean, equipped with necessities like toilet paper and soap.

  9. Outdoor Activities: The park offers opportunities for various activities, including BBQs, tennis, cricket, and walking paths.

  10. Convenience: Caulfield Park is well-located, with parking available and proximity to coffee shops and public transportation.

Cons to consider:

  1. Cleanliness of Restrooms: Although public toilets are available, they are not always clean and this could impact on your experience.

  2. Limited Lighting: During winter evenings, the lack of sufficient lighting might limit outdoor exercise or photography this is why I would suggest having your photoshoot early in the day or early afternoon, especially in winter.

  3. Weekend Crowds: The park can get busy on weekends, potentially affecting parking availability and overall tranquility. This is specially the case closer to the sports grounds in the weekend and public holidays. If you would like to avoid crowds then definitely a photography session early in the day is best.

  4. Weather-Dependent: The park's appeal can be weather-dependent, with some features being most enjoyable in favorable conditions.

Remember, each person's preferences and priorities might vary, so consider these pros and cons in light of your family's specific needs and expectations for an outdoor photoshoot location.
